Why are photos rotated in iPhoto distorted in Aperture 3.4?

Recently acquired Aperture 3.4 and merged existing photo library created in iPhoto. Now, all the photos that I had roated to vertical in iPhoto are distorted, with the image compressed horizonatally into the left half and the right half being **** bands of the photo's colors. Clicking "Create new version from original" provides an undistorted version, but it's a pain to do that all the time. Apparently others have also had problems after rotating images. Is there an easy fix?.

Thanks, Kirby. I had tried this and tried it again. A pop-up says the image was edited in iPhoto and cannot be updated.

That should not happen. If you imported an iPhoto 9.4 library, the edits in iPhoto should be editable in Aperture. How did you import your iPhoto library/libraries? And what version of iPhoto did create these libraries?

Hi Leonie,

Don't recal exactly. A pop-up window asked if I wanted to merge my iPhoto library into Aperture, and I clicked Yes. The images were adjusted in iPhoto over the last 5 or 6 years, using the versions current at the time. I just tried opening the library in iPhoto and the preview version of the vertical images now has the same distortion, but the distortion disappears when I open those images while still in iPhoto. But it doesn't disappear when I open one of them in Aperture.
