iphone 5 not ringing going straight to voicemail

My dad's iPhone 5 is not ringing and has been just going straight to voicemail all day. Yesterday, I updated his phone and restored it from a back up of a previous phone after he accidentally wiped his new one. I haven't found any solutions and it is hard to fix it from 800 miles away. Has anyone had this issue and have a solution?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3

A couple of things to try include:

  • Reset the phone by holding the power and home buttons until you see the Apple logo the release.
  • Try re-seating the sim card (open the tray and reinsert)
  • Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Reset network settings.
  • Have him call his carrier to see if the problem is at their end.

I had this problem and could not find an answer on any forum online so I went into my settings and figured it out myself. The poster above is correct. It's the Do Not Distrub Feature in Settings.

I have an iphone 4 but I would imagine there are similiar settings on the iphone 5.

Settings>Do not disturb>Manual

make sure that manual is off

Settings>Do not disturb>Allow Calls From

set it to Everyone

Settings>Do not disturb>Repeated Calls

turn this on

It works.
