I've had an Apple TV for several months at it has been working well up until today, when I have been getting this message on my TV screen when I turn on theApple TV:
Please try again later.
ATV-ui510:atv/next/videoasset
Not a very helpful message. And I have tried again later, but I'm getting this message over a period of several hours.
Any ideas as to what this means and if there is anything I can do about it?

I suggested it as you said you had tried everything.
Haven't come across that one before. I would try restoring in iTunes (see link). If that doesn't work may want to take it in to see if it's an issue with the unit.
Thanks, vazandrew. The iTunes restore did the trick. Of course, I had to re-enter my Wi-Fi password, Apple ID, etc., but everything seems OK now. Mystery, though, why the Apple TV was working fine one day and gave me this strange error the next day.
I have the same problem. However, my problem is with the menu options from the main netflix menu. The only option that works is "search". Everything else comes back with the error code: ATV-ui510:list.
The only other code I see is when trying to click into the kids section I get the code: ATV-ui510:kids_menu.
So if I search for something I can watch it but otherwise all other menu items result with one of the two error messages I previously stated.
I've tried everything but a hard restore from iTunes, which is a pain. Nothing else has worked.

I got exactly the same problem as antkm1 since today. Tried to restore but that did'nt change a thing. Any advice?

I did a restore through the settings menu on the Apple TV. Waited about 30-45 min for it to restore and tried netflix again.
This time when I went to "my list" from the netflix home screen it told me it was unavailable and to try again later. So I waited about 30 minutes and tried again. Then it worked, no need to restore through iTunes.
I actually didn't realize you could do a restore from the ATV settings -> General -> Restore. Must be a new(er) feature...since I have hat to really restore my ATV since I bought it in 2009.
So when I said "I tried everything except for a hard restore from iTunes", I meant all but that and the restore from the settings menu. That was much easier than plugging it into my Mac and restoring that way,
No, that's been there since the 2nd gen was introduced in 2010.
Yes, I usually recommend doing a direct restore unless it is not an option or an issue persists.
Anyway, glad you have it worked out.
This is the first time I've ever had to do this. Well, now I got another error but different code.
Checking Netflix's website sounds like either a power-cycle of ATV and/or sign-off/sign-in to Netflix again.
Will try it after prime time ends tonight,
I have seen a few of these error case scenarios pop up recently and it does seem to point to an issue on Netflix's end.
Hopefully one of those works, or you may want to try contacting them.
