I have a hard drive which was given to me by my sister and I have been watching movies on it happily on windows but now I have my mac back from repairs and I cant seem to get it going it sent me to a site that had me down load 4 different versions and it still doesnt work.

I would recommend that you download and install the excellent and Free "VLC Player for Mac" to watch those videos:
Note that if these movies carry copy protection, you cannot play them in Mac OS X since Microsoft has never allowed their copy protection system to be ported to Mac. Microsoft also has Windows Media codecs that also have never been ported. If neither VLC Media Player nor the Telestream codes will play the movies, then it's probable that you'll have to watch them through Windows.
