I dropped my MacBook Pro and the charger broke!

I dropped it from about 3 ft and it landed on the corner. When i picked it up the part of the charger that connects to the computer came off and is stuck in the port. It still charges if i put it in but i can't get the part out of the port. What do I do? User uploaded file

The part that you say is "stuck" in the computer port is held in place by a strong magnet in the body of the computer. You cannot get a good grip on it with your unaided fingers and apply enough pressure to remove it.

A pair of long-nose pliers will help you grip it firmly enough to remove it.

That metal part is pressed onto the end of the Power adapter cord, and held in place with an adhesive that reminds me of crazy glue Gel. There are (or were) two alignment pins, and the longer pin goes to the outboard end of the cord, where there is room for it to go into the housing.

Dry fit it first, then dis-assemble, apply adhesive, and clamp firmly in place while the glue sets up. It should be almost as good as new.

The genuine Apple fix is repair-by-replacement. If you are buying, that is the full reatil price of a new one.

Barnd-X that look like Apple are all over resellers like ebay -- but there is no way of knowing whether you are buying a Fire Hazard.

You can also buy a replacement cord for about half the price of the full adapter (again, parts from eBay) and splice it External to the adapter body. Getting inside the adfapter body is beastly -- it is all glued together. And when you try to put it back together it will look awful.
