I have a user who appears to be synching without problem to iCloud, but is unsuccessful at also synching his contacts with a Zimbra server. Most of my other users are not having this issue, but they are only synching to Zimbra. Ordinarily I'd think his sync services need to be reset, but I'm reluctant to do this lest his successful iCloud synching get screwed up. Would I, in fact, be making things worse if I did this?
There is no "sync services" in Mountain Lion. There's nothing to reset there. Sync Services was part of the MobileMe architecture, and iCloud isn't a peer-to-peer sync infrastructure.
Contacts in Mountain Lion sync via CardDAV. Ensure that Zimbra properly supports CardDAV and you should be OK. I suspect it may not.

And as I stated, Sync Services are not used to sync from the Contacts application on OS X to Zimbra. Resetting it will not help. Sync in this case is done via CardDAV, or perhaps Exchange if you have Zimbra set up to look like an Exchange server (I don't know how Zimbra works these days).
Maybe you could check the Console application and see if Contacts is spewing a bunch of warning or error messages?
Sorry I hadn't understood the distinction you were making. I will look in his log for any such errors. Of course his Sync log looks quite normal, but as you say, wouldn't apply in this case. Zimbra is indeed set up to look like an Exchange server. Thanks.
