Hi

My mobile does the same thing to my iPod. I can also hear some strange beeping on my car radio when just before I get an incoming call. I can also hear some interferences on a normal landline if I put your mobile phone next to it. Some mobile are better shilded than others. A good advice is to keep your G5 iPod and mobile separated.

You can also use the lock button to stop the volume changing.

By the way is Apple working on this?

Those beeping noises you hear are just signals from your cellular phone to its' network/nearest cellular tower. It's a notification that someone is alerting your phone, and then beeps to your network (eg, Cingular) to document your calls.

I'm pretty sure that's what it is...it will do this to all speakers if it's close enough to them. It gets really loud on my alarm clock during the middle of the night :\
