Q: iPad keeps dropping DSL connection on Netgear

Since you have two devices which aren't working with your router it's likely that the problem is with your router or the way you have it configured. If you can't find any fixes for the router I would likely give on it and get something that works. If this WiFi router/modem was supplied by your ISP ask for something else.

If you are stuck with it you may be able to bypass the WiFi router portion and get a WiFi router that works to replace that function.

Try #5.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on Wi-Fi

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Followed Texas Man Mac's advice for an Iphone 5 on IOS7 which kept dropping wifi anywhere outside immediate radius but was fine before.

I thought it was an Iphone isue as Ipad worked fine.

Changed the channel to 6 and hey presto, all working well again.

I Had same problem on my Netgear router using a 5ghz band.  The router was defaulted to channel 36, with no "auto" function. I tried a different channel and the router prompted me with a suggestion that said the higher channel numbers were recommended. So i set to the highest channel which is 165.  It's been working perfectly since.
