Can i up my MBP 13 to 16gb ram ?

There is a program in the App store called MacTracker that provides great assistance with this type of question. Install this app then locate your model. I have not found information in this program that is incorrect.

All 2012 MBPs can utilize 16 GB RAM. The correct specifications are: 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM. I suggest purchasing RAM from OWC or Crucial.

Do not install non-Apple Tested/Certified RAM.

CRUCIAL 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB X2) - This is the brand I have installed in my 15 Inch Late 2011

MUSHKIN 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB X2)

PATRIOT MAC SERIES 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB X2) - This is the brand I have installed in my 13 inch Late 2011

G.Skill 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB X2) - This is the brand I have installed in my 13 Inch Late 2008 Unibody

CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB X2) - A lot of users here uses this brand.

Spend the extra $5 - $10 and use the brands listed above. Do not use non Apple Certified/Tested RAM - you'll be posting back here on why your Macbook won't boot if you did buy cheap RAM.

Your intel HD video will stay at 512MB.

Your 16GB will be used if your App/Program requires it - there is no limit.
