i can't edit music files on itunes. (using a mac).

i have the latest update of itunes. im using a mac ios x. In itunes, i pull up "get info" go to sorting, delete or change things click "ok" . but nothing actually changes!. really annoying because my music on my phone is unorganized because of it. some songs dont even appear on the artist at all because it has a different sorting name.HELP!
