My ipad has restarted 3 times today. But the third time it came up with the apple logo for about 20 minutes and then it came up with a itunes logo and a cable. I have to plug it into itunes but my laptop has crashed so can i use a different computer with itunes on it, or will i loose all my data on my ipad?

Yes and yes. But you have no choice now if you want to get your iPad up and running again. You can download much of your paid content again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. If you have been using iCloud and backing up that way, once you restore the iPad, you can restore from the iCloud backup.
