My Ipad Mini will not chrage

This started yestaurday, April 11th. My ipad is displaying the image of a battery that has a tiny blinking red light in it. Under this, there is a plug sign, then an arrow, then a lightning bolt thing. I charged my ipad for 30 minutes, and it hasn't changed at all! What do i do? Should i buy a new charger? Oh, and if it helps, I got my Ipad in December of 2012, for christmas.
