Can you create subtitles with different colored borders (than the text itself) in FCP?

The colors in the images are making it difficult to read the subtitles. I've tried all the colors people recommended, but the text is still difficult to read at times. I'm trying to figure out if I can make the subtitle a single color, then add a different colored border so that the text will be more visible.

Final Cut Pro 7, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I'm not entirely sure if I follow you but you can control the color of the font as well as the color and thickness of the font's border and the drop shadow too, all within the info panel on the Text tab.


but you may want to overlay a white or black area underneat the text but above the storyline to give it complete relief from the colors beneath. that should allow the text to be easily readable.

in the many optional settings for Titles, there's one called CONTOUR which allows to set such a 'border', in any size and colour …

aside adding a contour, you can apply a 'box' btw video and title and make it semi-transparent ... looks like:
