Can iMessages be stored on an itouch?

I accidentally deleted all my old messages from my boyfriend, who's in Afghanistan, and I really want those messages back, is there any way that my iMessages are stored on my itouch? And if so, can you please tell me how to get to them so I can save them again? Please help!!
