iphone 5 stuck on connect to itunes screen

I just got a new iphone 5, it was great but there were some problems such as one specific app would have a pop up saying connect to itunes repeatdly i wasn't able to use it or even exit out of it. I decided that i should sync it to see if it would fix it, it didn't help. I figured I had nothing to lose and I tried to restore my iphone. The problem is that is it stuck on the connect to itunes screen, but when i connect it to the computer, itunes will not recognize it.

How do I fix this problem?

I have also tried to put it in recovery mode but it is unreponsive. is there anthing else i could try?

Open iTunes on your computer. Connect iPhone to computer with Lightning USB Cable. Hold both the Home and Power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If there are any problems, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send iPhone and Lightning Cable to Apple for resolution

I just got a new iPhone 4 and I'm having the same problem. I went through shutting everything off and reconnected. iTunes is recognizing the phone now, but when I hit restore it says it's going to return it to the factory settings.
