After upgrading to OS x 10.8 lion my java will not work

After upgrading to OS X 10.8, my java will not work I tried reinstalling it with no luck any advise on how to get it working again. A lot of the games I play run on Java

Mac mini (Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Locate the version of Java that’s installed on your Mac OS X system.

1. Open the Utilities folder and run the Terminal application.

2. Type java -version and press Enter.

(space between java & -v important)

The version of Java that you have installed will then be displayed on the screen.
