Transfer Excel & Word docs from Windows PC to iPad2?

Hi, I'm an age pensioner running a PC on Windows environment and have an iPad 2. My query is the easiest solution to transfer some Word and Excel files from my PC to my iPad, and which are the best apps (preferably free/low cost) to read and edit the documents in. I have already loaded Office Plus, and iSpredsheet but need to know which are the best apps to allow me to read, edit & save as well as creat new doc.

Also I guess it would be nice to be able to re-import those docs back to by desktop. I do not have a budget to buy a new PC.

Many thanks for all advice offered.

You might want to try Splashtop 2 - Desktop Remote in the app store.

Through wi-fi, it lets you see and work with what is on your computer exactly as it is on your computer. You would need a wi-fi connection at home. (If you don't have a wi-fi router, one will, in the long run, be a great convenient bit of tech to have.

You can make changes to a document, spreadsheet, etc. on your ipad and the changes will also be made on your computer. (I first read about it months ago and thought it was a new, brilliant idea, but there have been other apps like this and Splashtop was already being used by many.) It works with both macs and windows pc's.

In the app store go to top of apps page>categories>business. Right now it's listed over on the right as #1 in Top Paid category in that section.

Please note there are two Splashtops in the app store next to one another. You want the $6.99 newer version - the "2" (not the $9.99 version that is older.)

If you have a cellular ipad, you can pay for anywhere access and through 3g (phone usage charges apply) you have access when wi-fi is not available. You can get it for one month to try and then only periodically when you need it or for the year. One of our sons has the wi-fi version on his campus and it works well (everywhere except in one classroom.)

Please read reviews in the app store and google the app for independent reviews. Most reviews are very good. Try it out where you use your ipad and see how it does.

Many apps like pages and numbers work well, but can lose fome formatting in the process. Read all info thoroughly. I know it's not free, but think it is worth the price.

Hope this helps.
