My iPad screen has a window saying I haven't backed up I cloud in 2 weeks, but iPad is not responding to allow me to do the backup, do anything else in the iPad, nor turn it off to reboot. Any suggestions?

My iPad screen has a window saying I haven't backed up iCloud in 2 weeks. But, I cannot close that window. I cannot do anything else on the iPad, not even get it to do the iCloud backup (it is plugged in, locked & connected to wi-fi). I can't even turn off iPad to re-boot. It is "frozen", unresponsive. Any suggestions? Help!
