Can a Macbook Pro with Retina Display Support 2K UHD (Ultra-high definition) like movies in Cinema e.g. The Host, The Avengers, etc....?

I was wondering about this because 2k UHD are very high detailed for more information visit wikipedia:

The Tech Specs for latest MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display says:



Dual display and video mirroring:

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, at millions of colors


That number is smaller than the 2048 by 1080 you are looking for, so YES, it can be supported.


You would need two Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapters at US$100 each, and the USB plug MUST be plugged in to provide power for the signal Re-Driver circuits.
