We got a new MAC mini less than a week ago. I connected it to the HDMI port using the adapter. At first, I used a DVI-D Single link cable. The display was terrible. Although no noise or "Snow" issue, the text was fuzzy and corrupted, very low resolution images, etc. The text was the biggest issue.
What I did is that I got a DVI-D cable dual link of very high quality. I hooked it up to the DVI adpater, played around with the monitor settings. The image improved marginally.
Then, I came to this forum. I read the tip on the 25 minutes dealy in the "Engery Saver" for the display. Magically, this setting removed the fuzzy, terribly low quality text and made the screen more comfortable to look at.
At this time, the quality of the picture is at the level someone should have gotten right away without anything special done.
I am a full time engineer. What bothers me is that this issue is well known to Apple. With all of its engineering staff, they can't get this issue to be resolved, especially that the stupid "25" seconds delay solution is found by the consumers. This solution on its own should give the "engineers" a very good idea on the root cause of the problem.
I am thinking of returning it and never ever again come close to apple again, especially non-mobile devices.
If you are an engineer, you will know very well what is going on inside of apple engineering teams. (all hands on mobile, neglect and forget the desktop).
I am proud to say that I do not carry and will not carry any apple mobile device.
