Sharing to DVD all my projects stops att 66 % - without error messages.

I'm a beginner in Final Cut Pro X. Not good at ¨computer terms¨ and computers so please take it easy when explaining.

My first three project was succesfully . (I then had no background image.)The fourth project (about 59 minutes) was at first successfully even with a background image. (But when I played the DVD on my DVD-player it stopped completely after 45 minutes, but went on when I tried to play it again, from the place where it stopped.) Then I replaced the background image with another and after that it stopped at 66 %. I read about the error -29 and made my image ¨smaller¨ but nothing happened. I also made the project shorter, about 57 minutes, nothing happened.

I tried a couple of completely new project from 2 – 20 minutes long – the same happened, it stopped at 66 %. (Read about deleting render files and tried that too without results.) I have a Mac OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

Grateful for help after a week with problems. It’s a dancing project and people are waiting for the DVD…

Finally! From 66% to 100! Burning slowly awoke into life. It took three DVD burning to reach 100%, and there were no chapters and the last one was not playable at all. Perhaps it depends on all canceled burnings that awoke. (After my first ¨ordered¨burning¨, 2 windows just came up one after onother with different projects and asked for burning.) I haven’t time in this moment to work on it but – Al and Russ – I’m very happy for this help so long, and I feel like the rest is a minor problem.

Yes anyway it's good to see the light somewhere over there...

1. You said: ¨I would suggest to actually burn any backlog of projects in Create Disc so it clears them correctly.¨ Where do I find the backlog?

2. My old project began to move from 66% to 100 when I went to Create Disc – and clicked at recent projects and that was really a great progress, but how do I get a new project or a changed project to burning without that stop at 66 %?

( Perhaps is following another ¨discussion¨. If not: Am I right that there are no navigable chapter menu in FCP as in iDVD? If I can’t get the iDVD (that I am used to) in this new iMac, I must have some other possibility to make a real chapter menu. Is Apple’s Compressorthe solution? (Don’t know anything else about it.)

It's easy to overlook the chapter navigation in QT…even thought the chapter markers exported successfully.

Here is what it looks like in QT (it looks slightly different in iTunes if it's exported as an m4v.)

Clicking on the toolbar where I've circled, gives me something like this.

User uploaded file

Not very sexy at its best, but it more or less does the job. (It would look a bit more impressive if I had put the first two markers on something other than a gap).

Regards question 1.

These jobs are cued and waiting in a job list. Not sure where it is.

Mine wanted to burn the cued jobs and once burned it is CLEARED from the list.

There does not seem to be a way to access this cued jobs list as the menus in Create Disc are very basic. I would love to know how to access it!!!

The Create Disc>File>Open Recent is not what I am referring to above.

The Create Disc>File>Open Recent is a record of where to find the files that Create Disc uses to burn a disc.

If you want to re-burn the same Project you simply open Create Disc, choose one of the Recents from the Open Recent list and wait for the Please Insert the Media dialogue to appear.

The real files are in the Users>Your name>Movies>Final Cut Projects>Project Name >Shared Items. (This path assumes you used the default Macintosh HD system Drive.) If your Projects are on another drive follow a similar path starting from Final Cut Projects>.

Question 2.

Don't know other than what is already discussed.

Mine simply works after all the previous jobs were actually burnt.

I tested at least 10 discs of everything FCP X can burn and all is working.

I also Trashed the FCP X Preferences, use this app if you don't know how:

Last Question:

Tom and Russ have covered it.

FWIW: iDVD will give you a much more customizable finished DVD and I would jump for it if you need to produce custom dvds with some personal flair.

FCP X burn direct to DVD is very basic/restricted in the customizing department.

Quality is good though.

Just leaving another option for folks suffering because of this bug...

I had this problem too and tried everything in this thread (great sleuthing guys btw!) but none of it worked (my 66% freeze was accompnied by an "error 0" message btw and it was also sporadic - some projects were able to complete the DVD share). The tip about keywords over here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4469869 did though.

I know that these comments were written some time back, but I'm trying to find anyone that can possibly help me with this problem. I am having the 66% problem with no error popping up, and I've tried almost everything I've seen and read to do.

I have noticed that some people have been having success with the Create Disc app inside Final Cut Pro X, but I'm still having trouble with it, and I have a question about it.

I don't know if it's because the program has been updated since then or if I'm just doing something wrong, but whenever I go and find the Create Disc app and put it on the dock and click on it, mine does not give me a "File" option on the top of the screen. It just says "Create Disc" "Edit" & "Window" (it looks the same as your screenshot only without the word "File." This being said, I don't know how to bring up the recent projects without the "File" option. .

Can someone please help me with this problem?? I am on a deadline and need this done for a gift. Thanks so much for any help! 🙂

I just had the same problem (stuck at 66% while exporting to DVD).

I finally realized that a message popup was behind Final Cut Pro (I had to hide all applications except Finder in order to see it). Basically, it says I don't have write access to a file. And in Console, I saw the corresponding message:

28/05/2015 11:42:57,728 DSPPublishingServer[3080]: CoreData: error: -addPersistentStoreWithType:SQLite configuration:(null) URL:file:///Users/<mylogin>/Library/Application%20Support/Compressor/CreateDisc -MenuItemCache.sql options:(null) ... returned error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=513 "Impossible d’enregistrer le fichier car vous ne disposez pas d’autorisation." with userInfo dictionary {

}

When I click on 'OK' on this message, the burning just resume without any problem!

66% And Me!

I had left "Create Disc" open and running in the Dock.

Long story as to why tonight was my first try at Share > DVD, has something to do with hating X in 2011...

The first Share > DVD tonight worked fine. In scrubbing through it in DVD Player, I found an edit I didn't like. Fixed the FCPX timeline, then Share > DVD failed at 66%.

That is where FCPX hands off and launches the "Create Disc" application.

I tried 4 times, with the 66% (might as well be 666 and leave off the "%"), error. Found this thread. I removed the edit I didn't like, and then a second edit, because 66% was at 48:30 into my timeline, and I worked on the concept that the "%" was the percentage of my video! I also removed the background image, BUT THEN saw in the Dock that "Create Disc" was running.

I "Force Quit" "Create Disc", and Share > DVD worked.

I left the Dock showing, by keeping the mouse hovered over it, and watched the % completed in FCPX like a hawk. Had to get out my glasses! Darn, the font size is so TINY for 65 year-old eyes! Apple and "Accessibility"! Bah Humbug!

Right at 66%, "Create Disc" launched in the Dock. Less than a minute later, 100%!

I hope posting my experience doesn't annoy anyone, but I put 2+2 together from snippets above, in my fix strategy.

I do want to try to make DVDs with custom Menus in FCPX, as I did with DSP for almost 10 years. I do have DSP on my current machine, but wanting to try FCPX first, before falling back into an amorous relationship with my beloved DSP - newest revision from what, 2009? Toast 14 Pro has MyDVD, which I have also gotten to work 50% of the time, but is fussy about the specs of the .mov file. The default menu is OK, but not the same as DSPs graphic menu builder window. That's another day, this project did not even need a menu!
