When I startup Final cut the startup screen appears... then crashes before the programme opens.
I have done disc repairs, deleted preferences files, done updates, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times.
Im guessing that it is something to do with my Mac not the software. Really stuck and can't find anything online thats helped.
Any help or advice will be great appriceiated.

It could be a corrupt plugin - try watching the start up screen closely and see what the last thing loading is before the crash. Also let us know what has changed on your system since the last time it worked properly.

The start up screen crashes after I click continue on the 'locate external devices' window.
Can think of what changes I might have made between it working and not..

The message means your machine is looking for an external device that is not connected to the computer. If you are getting that message, it means you have not properly deleted your FCP preference files.
Download and run Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager. It's free and located on the DR website. It will get rid of all the FCP prefs properly.
If this works, after FCP launches, go into the FCP system settings and reset the locations of where FCP puts capture files, scratch files, etc. to a directory on a hard drive OTHER than your system disk.

Thanks for your help, I downloaded Preference manager and trashed the preferences..
still not work 😟
I did notice when I reinstalled FCP it didnt ask for my seriel code? but when the programme is loading up it has my name on the licencing?
Preference Manager does not remove your app. All it does is delete the preference files for the programs you select and tell it to "trash".
How did you delete your program?

I removed FCP using Cleanmymac then reinstalled.
Try using this http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/ to uninstall FCP then re install.
