Q: Migration help please!

I have successfully completed a transfer of music and pictures from my old Windows Vista PC to my new iMac.  The information is now stored under an old Windows user name on my iMac, for which I am being asked for a password, which I have never used on my old PC.  Any advice?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), iOS 6.1.3

Drag that account's home folder to your current account's desktop and provide your current account's administrator password. If desired, then open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences and delete the migrated account.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Users/ as the path, locate it(there will also be a folder with a house icon and another named Shared), click on it, and drag it to the desktop.

OK thanks - have moved the file to my desktop, but am not asked for my password.  When I try to access the files, I am told I do not have permission.  Sorry to be dense... :/

Open the AppleScript Editor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run the following:

set theUID to do shell script "echo $UID"

    do shell script "chown -R " & theUID & " ~/Desktop/" with administrator privileges

ok - sorry again, you're going to have to really spoonfeed me through this!

I am in the AppleScript Editor as suggested and in the dialog box I have typed

    "echo $UID"

    "chown -R"

    "~"

and then hit Run.  is this right?  Sorry, to keep asking, but am confused

Copy and paste the next two lines of this post into the text field just below the Record, Stop, and Run buttons:

set theUID to do shell script "echo $UID"

    do shell script "chown -R " & theUID & " ~/Desktop/" with administrator privileges

Press the Run button. When prompted, provide your administrator password.

Ok - some progress - it is at least recognising some of the script!  I have an error message which reads that I cannot make\"chown- R \" into type boolean.  Think it might be to do with where there are spaces and where there aren't?  I appreciate your patience

Highlight the two lines, press the Command and C keys, go into the AppleScript Editor, and press the Command and V keys. If this doesn't work, post back with what is currently in the AppleScript Editor window.

From the AppleScript Editor, run the following:

    tell application "Finder" to quit

    do shell script "chmod -R u+rwX ~/Desktop/"

do shell script "chmod -RN ~/Desktop/"

do shell script "chflags -R nouchg ~/Desktop/"

    delay 2

    tell application "Finder" to run
