Printer Drivers

Who actually was able to get any useful results from this article?

I was directed here when trying to reload printer drivers which were removed by a prior Apple software update.

I could find no links to actual drivers, just a form listing every printer ever developed. Are the links hidden in another article, or does Apple have a special web page where they hide drivers?

Why do Apple software updates delete or destroy existing printer drivers?

I have now downloaded printer drivers 3 times, and subsequent Apple updates have caused them to vanish.

Is this an obsolete article? The most recent operating system available on their drop-down list is os X 10.6.

I find Apple support pages to be ineffective and a waste of time.

baltwo, your answer is confusing to me. Apple says that all the drivers you need are already loaded in the system. I actually had to go to load the drivers, as they weren't on my system. If you go to the manufacturer (in my case HP), they will tell you that the software is provided by Apple, not HP, if you are using OS 7. I assue TechVeteran is using OS 7, as he says that the dropdown list is only for 10.6. I don't think you are right that he should go to the manufacter's site to get info.

I am sick of Apple changing up the driver set-up with each system change, and not helping its users get the best information on syncing their system with their printers. We are all here, dancing in the dark, trying to get our printers to work. What a waste of time!!!

Sorry for confusing you, but since I run all three OSs and have HP printers, I found that when I had an issue a year or two ago, reinstalling HP's Snow Leopard stuff fixed the problem. Since then, I just install the appropriate updates and follow the steps at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw _lang=&product=3192753#N215. But, you're right for Lion and Mtn Lion, you shouldn't need that earlier stuff, but I've migrated from SL and most of that stuff still exists in the later OSs.
