Apr 13, 2013 8:33 PM in response to Zach the Apple Userby Zach the Apple User,Up by where it says backing up, there is a little arrow or x. click one of those and it should skip backing up. If you are trying to update your ipod, why dont you try to do it on the ipod? Settings > General > Software update. Sorry if that is incorrect i am only familiar with ios 5-6

Apr 14, 2013 12:52 AM in response to MindlessBeauty1by Ritalaughs69,I have the very same issue. I have been trying for hours. The problem is when I go through general settings, there isn't an option labled "software update" available to select. There isn't a dialog box that pops up either. I think I am going to be forced to get a newer generation ipod touch just to play simple games. Good luck to you. I bet there are a bunch of us out here trying to simply update our iOS

A 3G to 5.1.1 Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
A 4G to 6 Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later
