So I accidentally misplaced a file.. i was dragging and am not sure what directory I dragged too.. what is the best way to search for a file with the file name title of rio?

I lso tried the find in finder and no luck..

Try a Spotlight Search

Unless you want to use arcane Unix commands in Terminal, try EasyFind. It's in the Mac App Store.
If you want to use arcane Unix commands anyway,
find / -name "rio"
EasyFind will probably be faster, downloading it included.
Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Spotlight > Search Results and check to make sure that all of the categories boxes are checked and then re-try your search.
