Thanks again Gino, I have discovered that the Roland Edirol un installer is for combo Intel/PPC Mac OSXs. When I try to run it it flashes the message that this computers OS does dot support PPC.
I have contacted Roland and they sent the same old installer again, the owner of the shop where I bought the Edirol is at the NAMM and said he was going to find out what is going on with Roland and 10.8. I already heard from a software developer in France that his installer is also combo Intel/PPC, but not the app it is Intel only, but I can't install it because 10.8 cannot use PPC stuff. Thanks again but no joy yet. There is a knowlege base HT document on this site somewhere that warned me that Using hardware from Roland or M-Audio was not going to work in 10.8 so for this update I don't have to buy a whole new Mac, just a new MIDI Interface that works in 10.8-but Apple won't say which will work.
