How can the sims 2 for Windows run on Macbook pro?

I would really appreciate a step-by-step help. I have read on a net that this is possible by installing something on my Mac but I cant find what exactly. I have spent a lot of my money on my The Sims 2 for Windows so I dont really want to buy the all discs for Mac again. And I dont want to start playing The Sims 3 as well. So please if anyone knows what to install on my Mac to run the CDs I already have, I will be super happy and grateful! Maybe installing Windows 7 (I am not super convinced that Windows 8 support The Sims 2 as my friend told me the game freezes all the time) to Mac or I have also read something abou CrossOver Runs Windows on Mac? I am not good in computers but I want to figure this out and they are unable to give me an advice in my local Apple store. Thanks!

You can purchase virtual machine SW like VMWare Fusion 5 or Parallels 8 for you Mac. You can then create a virtual Windows machine if you have the installation disks. Windows XP, 7 and 8 are supported. You can find more information from VMWare and Parallels.

This works. It allows you to run Windows applications and Mac applications at the same time.
