Do audio books back up with iTunes Match or is it just music?

    The short answer is no. The longer answer is as long as they are in the iTunes library as Media Kind Audiobook no, iTM will not scan them. However if they are Media Kind Music then they would get scanned by the service. Purchased audiobooks will generally have a file extension of .m4b or something similar so iTunes will add them as Audiobooks. But if they are ripped from CD they could have an .mp3 or .m4a extension which iTunes thinks is music.

     

    FYI iTunes Match is not a backup service. You are responsible for backing up your personal data.
