LibreOffice should help you. It is a free office suite. I have LibreOffice but do not have a .wdf file-- otherwise I would try. You can download LibreOffe from here:
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
Then open the wdf file with LibreOffice.
Sorry, I meant .wdb file not ,wdf
as mentioned above - LibreOffice might be able to open that file for you.
you can also try openoffice which is similar to libreoffice and it's also a free download
I tried to download Libre Office and I got a message that "BitTorrent" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." Where do I go from here?
I also tried to download openoffice but I get the same reply as libreoffice. "Can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer". How do I cahnge the settings on my computer to allow these programs.

Nothing that runs on a Mac will open a wdb file, and unless you have a copy of Works there is nothing available for Windows either. There is a file converter available which will convert it to a csv file (all formatting will be lost) it is available here, but it is Windows only.
That article says it is a java Web start applet. Won't that run in a Browser on a Mac?

Ahh, yes it should open in a browser. The OP should try that (it is quite old so no guarantees)
thanks. I was able to download both libreoffice and openoffice after changing my preferences. When I try to access my document through openoffice it is grayed out. Thoughts on why I still can't access .wdb file
sorry to hear that - have you tried Csound1's suggestion? that might work for you.
Having them send the document as a .csv file allowed me to open it. It turned out it was an excel spreadsheet not a database file. Once I knew that I used openoffice and it opened it fine.
Thanks to everyone for the support and help.
