Q: i cannot play hd movie on ipod touch

how do i get a downloaded movie in i tunes to play on an ipod touch - (error message the format is wrong etc)

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.3

Do they play in iTunes on the computer?

iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
Can you directly redownload them dirctly on he iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
