Trying to install a new wireless Cannon printer on my Mac put in setup disc and just get the message "You can't open the application Setup because Power PC applications are no longer supported. What does this mean and how can I set up my printer?

It means that the stuff on the CD is only for non Intel computers. Your iMac is Intel?
Your next move is to read the manual that came w/your printer, visit the manufacturer website to either contact their tech support for assistance and/or download any drivers that you may need for your current OS system. Also, check SU for possible updates

If this is a new printer it came with very old software. Go to Canons site and download up to date software.
I had this same problem. Instead of inserting the CD first, simply insert a USB from the printer to the iMac and follow the installation insturctions.
