At first i thought it was the display, but hooked up another, same result, and everything is negitive.
Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on the Seeing tab, turn off White on Black, and drag the Contrast slider all the way to the left.

Your cat probably hit ctrl-alt-cmd-8 🙂
Just hit those four keys together to reverse it.
