I opened the inspector and dragged an AAC file from iTunes onto the square in to audio section. The music played OK in iTunes but when I pushed the preview button to preview menu I did not hear the music. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Was the track purchased from iTune and is DRM protected?
Make sure you have the volume in the Menu Info window turned on. Also try removing the track and then add it back.
A last suggestion is to use an AIFF format verson instead of ACC.

I am not hearing music on any of my original themes when I play them. In the menu info window I have the volume set between min. and max. Thanks for your time.
Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Thanks. That did the trick. FYI--just pressing the Option Key and GO on the Menu allows the "invisible" Library Folder to appear. No need to go into the terminal.
