I have two itunes accounts - one i had on my original pc and then one i created with my Mac. Is it possible to add the library from the old iTunes account to my new one

I have two itunes accounts. One is an old one with a substnantial library attached and one is much newer which I created with my new Mac. Is it possible to merge the two libtaries into my new account?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You can merge the two libraries but not the accounts. Each account is a separte entity.

You are likely best to use the older account as that is where a bulk of the purchases are from. If the file is a unprotected purchase then it doesn't matter. If the content is DRM encoded then you will need to authorize your computer to both accounts as needed. All new music purchases are DRM free but video is still DRM encoded.

There is no reason to create a new iTunes or Mac App Store account if you get a new computer.

The only thing is that I am trying to get rid of the older account as I do not use the email anymore so

You can (and really should) update iTunes/AppleIDs instead of creating a new one.

However, since you have already created a new one you are "stuck" with two accounts.

You will need to authorize your compuer for both accounts.

Even if you do not have that email address, you can still use that iTunes account.

FYI, Apple doesn't currently have a way to fix this. Be careful what device you associate an Apple ID with. Apple is locking down devices to an specific Apple ID for 90 day periods. So when you try to download ibooks or music from one apple id (where the device is associated with the other apple id) you will get an error notifying you that you cannot have more than one Apple id associated with a device. Apple needs to address this and give an merge capability for Apple ID's.
