My friend has sent me a file of pictures via email. I taped on the attachment and the file started to download. It finished successfully, but I do not know where to actually access the photos on the download. I've heard that they are in the mail app but I cannot find where to get them. Anyone know where?
I'm on the ipad 4th generation, if any other info is needed feel free to ask.

Well, I don't really think that the iPad Mail app has the capability to extract photos from what might be a compressed file. Try having your friend either put these pictures on Dropbox (and get the Dropbox App) or send them as separate photo attachments.
The file probably didn't download at all or went into the bit bucket.
Unless you saved it to another app then it will only be in the Mail app attached to that email. If you re-select that email and view the photo, then if you press and hold the photo you should get a popup after a second or two with an option to save it to the Photos app - it should go into the Camera Roll album.
Both replies have been helpful, but it's not just one photo, it's a file of multiple, totalling to 26.3 MB of data....I may try the Dropbox way, but I find it kind of ridiculous that I can't access the photos in a download that has been emailed to me, something apple should work on, not that I'm one to tell apple what to do....thanks guys, great help
