Q: Question about restoring potos from defective SD card

My son has an android phone and his SD card appears to be defective. I'd like to try to retrieve the data, especially photos, but when I put it into my Macbook Pro using an SD reader, it doesn't register on my computer. When I put it in using an SD adapter, I get a essage saying my computer can't read it. Does anyone have any guidance to offer?

Find a local PC tech who knows Linux, there is a excellent free software called PhotoRec that can do the job very well, and it reads all drive formats, unlike a Windows or Mac that don't.

The code has to be compiled, so it's not GUI user friendly to mortals.

Also when it does recover files, a Android phone/synch program on Windows is going to be needed to read them and export into a more neutral cross platform formats (like jpg, mp3 etc)
