my iPad is not syncing notes with iCloud

I upgraded to Mountain Lion, turned on iCloud. Syncing with iPad worked for Calendar, not Notes. Checking notes on iPad, one time I saw Default Account as "On my iPad" - only once, can't see it again. erased all notes. Could not see default account to change to iCloud. Notes iClouded from my iMac are on the iCloud website. and Calendar syncs between iMac and iPad. Notes no.

Rebooted iPad. no luck. Have no idea why I saw Default Account under notes, but only once.

Make sure you are signed into your iClould account on your iPad and make sure calendars sync is on in your iCloud settings.

Thanks Eric - I had done all that.

I called Apple, they guided me through several ideas. The last one worked: I disconnected from iCloud (leave data on iPad), closed all applications (push button twice, hold app at bottom of screen, push all ➖ signs on apps). Checked Notes setting - still no Default Account. Checked Notes - they had downloaded from iCloud!!
