Cant see ipod

Cant see ipod

I lost my old ipod and when and bought a new one. Connected to my PC and the sound it makes when connected was made but unable to see the ipod. I cant add music cuz i cant see it. Do i need to download a new ITUNEs and if so what happens to music on my itunes??

If you are currently using iTunes 11 (which is the newest iTunes), it may hide the sidebar. To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.

With the sidebar visible, does the iPod appear under DEVICES in the sidebar?

If it does not appear in the sidebar, please post back.
