why can't i click on youtube search suggestions?

Hi, I can't seem to figure this out. On the the youtube search bar when i try to click any given suggestion; It simply wont let me. If i press on it the search bar remains where it was. It doe not get filled with said suggestion. Been going on for like two weeks. It was working before and i only have problems on youtube. Other sites work fine. I know something is up because i used my brothers iphone 5 and am allowed to click. i too am using an iphone 5 with latest ios. Ive tried restarting phone many times and would lime to avoid a restore. thanks
