How do you set up parental control on iPad?

I have got pass code for my iPad, which I don't mind sharing with the children. But in the light of recent furores about "apps hiding charges" I just want to be extra vigilant. Is it ever possible to set parental control on the iPad? Though there have been times when apple prompts me for password before further download and sometimes, it doesn't, just want to find out.

First, I'd suggest you turn off "In App purchases" in the Restrictions settings on your iPad. Many apps, particularly games, are inexpensive or free for the base game but charge for additional features such as levels, "coins" and other such add-ons, and they don't always make it clear that such purchases cost real money. You may also want to turn off the ability to install apps, to prevent purchases in case the child gets hold of your iTunes Store account information, and set the password to be required immediately. Turning off in-app purchases and the App Store itself would be the best bet for you. You can always unlock these features as needed and lock them again.

Apart from restricting purchases, there are a number of other restrictions you can setup. You can even setup a safe browser with remote parental controls from the App Store, like the one from Mobicip. You may find this tutorial to be helpful: How to setup Parental Controls on the iPad.

Hope this helps.
