How to import emails from Entourage to Mail

If you need to export mail from Entourage for use in Apple Mail, here's what to do. Click on the Folder list in the left-hand pane and drop it onto your desktop; this will export the folder in the popular mbox format.

Next, use the Apple Mail program to import the mbox format.

Darn it! I jumped the gun! I updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I didn't realize that Entourage would not work at all in Snow Leopard. So now I want to start using Mac Mail but I don't know how I can import all my mail from Entourage. I know where it is in Office 2004 Identities. It seems that I should have done an export before updating the OS. Argh!

Any help would be appreciated.

okay, maybe I missed something, but I just got a new MacBook Pro, and don't know how to transfer the Entourage 2008 file over to the new Mac. I bought MS Office 2016 for the new Mac. Haven't downloaded it to new computer yet. Do you know if it has Outlook as part of that package? Afraid to do a thing before I hear back. Thx!

I spent three days trying to make Entourage work by sending emails with macOS Sierra then I found your site - it makes it so clear - so simple - Move to Mail and import - THANKS

Surprised me. Entourage is working in Sierra. I found out by accident. Mail is sending and receiving without any adjustment in settings. I did, however, caution my Mac customer about relying on such an old application and recommended he move over to Apple Mail.

But for our case, it was nice to have all those old emails and files handy on the same Mac.

I do not know if the other Office 2004 applications work, as I have not tried them in the latest Mac OS.

Office 2004 does not work on anything later than Snow Leopard. I know of no file converters.
