Will ARD allow desktop sharing with Windows?

I am wondering if ARD would allow me to connect to a Windows machine where I and the Windows user would be sharing the Windows desktop. Is this possible with ARD 3?

I have been using RDC to connect to Windows machines, but there are instances where we need to share the Windows user's desktop as opposed to knocking the user off when connecting to their machine.

Hi ,
I tried ARD 3 with Real VNC Server running on W2K3. ARD detects VNC server on the windows machine, but unable to connect.

Throwing up following Error: ( Console: System Log)

netinfod local[33]: notify's udp binder connection to ap1.apogee[192.168.1.11]/local failed during opening (UDP) - socket_open failed
