The x to hide apps isn't showing

It's a new computer and I don't want to see some of these unwanted apps in my purchased list but the x doesn't show next to the Install button as this article suggests it should.

I'm currently updating some apps, but that'd be strange if that's why they're not showing. Does anyone have experience fixing this?
