How do I mark my place in an audiobook

I downloaded an audiobook on my ipad through iTunes. I opened up the book and listened to an hour or so of it and put down my ipad. I listened to music on my ipad and when I went back to my book it started at the beginning. Most things with apple seem to be fairly intuitive, but there does not appear to be anyway to mark your place when listening to an audiobook. Can someone please explain this to me? Most books are hours long, If I have to spend 30 minutes trying to find where I left off then this is ridiculous! Please tell me that I am just not smart enough to figure it out... It would be silly if nobody at apple thought to add a bookmark feature

Well I downloaded an audiobook through iTunes and so unless iTunes charged me money for a file that wasn't "properly formatted" then I'm not really sure what to do. Thank you for trying to help, but "do nothing" is probably the least helpful answer I have ever gotten from anyone in my entire life... Better question, how do I get a refund from iTunes for selling me an audiobook that is not "properly formatted"
