Does anyone know how to do this? Everytime I try to drag a file it shows a warning red circle with a line through it.
Such a simple thing it should be. By the way I searched the help and forums and cannot find an answer. Shouldn't I be able to do this?

I would like to be more clear.
Shouldn't I be able to drag an mp3 into the iTunes window of what is "on my iPhone" and then iTunes converts it to aac and adds it to my phone? Or am I missing something here?
I don't know if this will help, but I was having the same problem. (The link to the article worked for me)… you should be able to scroll down on your iTunes on your computer and check the box about 'Manually managing' your music. Mine was not working because I had my iPhone synced to two different devises. In order for me to drag and drop music, I had to sync to only one of the two computers.

This doesnt help at all cause I dont have a box to check off. Mine just says:
you should tick "manually manage music and video" check box, then drag music to "on my iphone". The following support article might be useful.
I have the same problem. WHERE is that box you mention? I can't find it. Is it on the iphone or in itunes?
