Suddenly the invisibles (blue dot between words indicating a space has changed to a small square. This blue square is box with a blue border. The box is located above the letter following the space.
Everything is up today.
I am using Pages on a Macbook
When you are having troubles finding a feature search in the menus.
Check your font, sounds like you have used an Asian font like Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I solved the problem buy restarting the compter. It is amazing what restarting the computer will do.
