Q: Transferring ITunes library to Mac from PC

Hi

I have recently purchased a MacBook Air with 128gb solid state drive together with a 1 TB external drive.

I want to transfer my iTunes library to the MacBook and have the files on the external drive as I have about 300gb of music, movies and audiobooks.

Hopefully with all the files being seen by the library but not sure of the best way to do this. Can anyone help?

See this post on normalizing your library. If you get everything in the correct relationship before you move it from the Mac (and your drive is in the right format) you can connect the external to the PC. Hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the librayr file you want on the external drive. If that isn't possible for some reason I have a tool called FindTracks that should be able to repair broken links from the library to the files.
