Look at vintapps for a ton of available earily app choices.
I had also faced the same problem. After weeks of hunting, I found many apps compatible with ios 4.2.1

Guys I have a nice tips for Games and apps compatible in ios 4.2.1
1- download AND install Itunes on youre computer
2- go to www.filecrop.com
3- search for any game/app you want and add (.ipa)
4- dowload it and install it by itunes
Example : facebook .ipa - fruit ninja .ipa ...
