why doesn't the Displays section of the System Preferences actually show you the screen resolution?!

and how do I find that information? Is there a simple way other than going into System Info? A dashboard widget maybe?

Thanks

I'm sorry, but I cannot confirm that. I'm running 10.8.3. I know that information is wrong in my profile -- but I deal with a lot of computers at once, and really, it's asking too much I think, to want users to maintain that kind of informaiton on a forum profile when it's changing so fast anyway. I am able to check the size in the System Info, thanks. I know it now.

I am surprised, however that it is not part of the computer's System Preferences. That's where I would expect to find it I guess.

Thanks

Bob

Beats wasting the time of contributors who volunteer their time here to help, based on totally eroneous information. How hard would it have been to include that basic information in your question - as well as posting it in the correct forum?

Discourteous to say the least.

Since that Pref Pane was changed with the latest OS, it IS important that we (volunteering our time to help) know the machine specs as well as the OS version you are running.

Actually, it still is in ML (System Preferences > Displays):

Apple menu / About This Mac is the easy way to find the version of OS X you are using.

It is critical to know the OS version to deal with a question. That info does not have to be in one's profile, but it has to be included for the responder to understand the question.

For example, the path to Displays is slightly different in OS 10.6 than it is in 10.8. So without that info one can only guess what the response should be.

When all is said and done, I am happy the question has been resolved.
